Come explore this Mothman themed AirBnb and solve the whole house escape room! (You're never locked in, it's just a bunch of puzzles!) Upstairs is creepy, funny, and cozy all at the same time. Downstairs is Mothman Cave with air hockey, PS5, T2 arcade game, and more! Outside has a nice fire pit with swings and a hammock under the deck. We'd rate it PG for scariness, so 5-10 year olds might get nervous unless they dig scary movies. It's ~1 mile of Fayetteville and the New River Gorge Bridge.

Good to know

Mothmanor is a small 630 square foot ranch home that feels surprisingly spacious and has a full finished basement (1100 sf total). It sits on about a half acre of land and has a nice fire pit behind it. Art covers almost every surface, so have fun looking around! One bedroom has a king bed, the other a queen bed. Both bedrooms have very effective blackout curtains so you can sleep in! There are two very comfy cots in the basement for kids or another couple. The cleaning fee is rather high because it includes resetting the escape room.

House Rules

Please be responsible with the hammocks, swings, hanging chairs, games, etc. Don't be the reason we can't have nice things. Fire pit - only use 5 PM to 7 AM, be sure the fire is out, use lots of water. These are local regulations.

My family absolutely loved this place and can’t wait to visit the other themed spots! The escape room was so well done and more challenging than expected. (I strongly recommend finishing the escape room on your first night, especially if you’re bringing kids.) The hosts were communicative and more than helpful and the house itself was just as cool as promised!

What a unique, fun, clean & cozy place! Fantastic escape room for many levels with some challenging puzzles that allowed hints if you wanted them. Kept the interest of my family, especially our kiddos- 14 & 19 yrs old that they wanted more after they solved it. Excellent for cryptid enthusiasts, particularly Mothman. So much cryptid eye candy in every room that you are constantly discovering new things. I was worried about it being too creepy, but it was cozy & relaxing- with very classy touches in each room: I loved the specific and intentional attention to detail- well thought out , which I appreciated. Clean linens, bathrooms & comfy beds. Cute kitchen that was well-stocked with a nice variety of coffees, teas & sweeteners- good quality choices as well. Also, anytime we had a quick question, the hosts always answered in a very timely manner. Even if you aren't into cryptids or escape rooms, this house was tons of fun with many games & a nice tv in basement.

This had to be the most unique, atmospheric, and fun Airbnb I’ve ever stayed in! The amount of detail that went into the escape room puzzles was incredible - and made them all the more challenging and fun to solve. My sisters and I had everything we needed for the weekend and the location was lovely. Decent restaurants and great outdoor spaces. Would highly recommend this place for anyone who’s a fan of Mothman and/or escape rooms.

Our family really enjoyed our stay at Mothmanor. The hosts put a lot of work into making this the perfect Cryptid Escape. The rooms were clean, the kitchen was well-stocked, all the amenities we could expect were provided, and the beds were so comfortable. I highly recommend duing the escape room early in your stay, it was quite the adventure for us.

We had such a great stay at Mothmanor! Easy to get to location and close to the national park and any food options you could want. We had a snow day and spent hours going through the escape room aspect. Such a kooky and cozy stay. Would love to return in the future!

Bravo. Standing ovation. Slow clap. What an amazing place. The hosts have upped the game, literally. The house as a(not so easy) escape room, with, if you aren’t into the escape room, amazing decor and amenities to keep you and your guests interests peaked during your stay, make this the best stay we’ve ever booked. We will for sure be looking at the 80s stay and the steampunk stay for our next winter trip through the New River Gorge. Well done.
